Daydream is a short animated film I submitted with my partner, Adin Replogle, to the eMagine Media Festival in 2020 when I was a senior in high school. We had 6 weeks to make it. The original idea was to make a short story about someone daydreaming during class. The goal was  to show the progression of the character's emotions from before the dreams to afterward. We had the majority of the storyboard done within the first week and I was able to start modeling everything in the film. We began filming on the second week and this process lasted until the fifth week. We consistently had trouble with schedule conflicts and people getting sick, but we were able to get most of the footage we had planned for by the end. We did however have to work around a few shots we simply could not get. Throughout the filming process, I was animating and compositing scenes which we had already gotten to film, so the animation was largely finished by the last week. The final week was spent finalizing the compositing stage and editing the film. A month later we learned that Daydream had won the Animated Story category and Best In Show for all of Animation at the eMagine Festival. I was thrilled, and am very proud of the work Adin and I put in to get there. The film was also submitted to Washburn University's WiFi Film Festival in 2020, however this show was cancelled due to COVID.  Our film was shown the next year at the 2021 WiFi Film Festival. There, competing against college-level films, Adin and I were awarded the Ivy Pruss Screen Writing Award and were nominated for Best Editing. We were also awarded the Best Film by a Kansas High School Student.
